(Prof.) Born in Istanbul in 1941. She graduated from the Department of Ceramics at the State Academy of Applied Fine Arts in 1962. Between 1964 and 1972, she studied ceramic art and ceramic engineering in Germany with a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education. She worked at Wachtersbacher-Keramik, Rastal-Werke, and Rosenthal in Germany, as well as in the ceramics section of Dansk-Design in Denmark. As a result of written agreements in Germany, some of her forms were purchased by Hutschenreuther and Goebel companies for serial production.
She returned to Turkey between 1972 and 1978 and worked as an assistant in the Ceramics Department of the State Academy of Applied Fine Arts. She earned her teaching position with her thesis "Primitive Pottery Still Practiced in Anatolia," later published as a book by Ak Yayınları. In 1986, she became an associate professor at Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts (MSGSÜ), and in 1993, she was promoted to full professor. She continues to hold this title and serves as the Head of the Ceramics and Glass Department.
In 1989, she was a visiting lecturer in the United States, and in 1996, in Germany, where she also held solo exhibitions. She delivered illustrated lectures on "Primitive Pottery Still Practiced in Anatolia" and "Contemporary Turkish Ceramics." In 1990, she conducted research in Japan with a scholarship from a Japanese foundation, held a solo exhibition there, and gave lectures on the same subjects. Between 1961 and 2008, she participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, receiving awards in some of them, and held fourteen solo exhibitions, six of which were abroad.
