Born in Izmir in 1982, the artist graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Since the early 2000s, their work has set out to move beyond the ideological constructions and historical glorifications surrounding social and political events, developing a multifaceted practice that spans drawing, sculpture, video, and performance. Navigating layers of memory—from official histories to individual narratives—the artist frames the notion of witnessing beyond documentary modes and indexicality. Photographic documents merge with the artist’s subjective memory and are then rendered on paper with charcoal—another chemical residue.
Research‑driven and engaged with historiography, the practice excavates the past, brings it to light, and reconfigures and reanimates it. Since 2014, the artist has realized performances at the intersection of gastronomy and art, and continues to live and work in Ayvalık.
